Once again, we had a contingent from the Grace
United Methodist Church "Holy Spokes" bicycling club that participated in the Pedal Across Lower Michigan Tour.

Denise was the Watermelon Lady again for PALM 2007. She again cut up 30
to 35 watermellon for the over 750 riders every day. She will be returning for her 3rd year in June 2008.

Midland City Forest Trail had numerous stunts like this teeter-totter.
Al and Derik took a week and rode 7 differnt Michigan mountain bike trails in seven days. Here they are
on a segment of the North Country Trail

Al and Denise got a chance to vacation as a couple this past summer. They even got some tandem
touring in. Here they are at Point Betsie Lighthouse near Frankfort, Michigan.
In 2006, Derik and Al did some riding in Moab, Utah. Here is Derik on the Slickrock. It was like riding
on petrified sand dunes. The traction was phenomenal.
Astronomy

Comet Holmes appeared again in 2007. It became visible to the naked eye when it unexpectedly
flared up in October. It was still very much visible in this picture taken weeks later.

Everything set up and ready to go at dawn on
June 8, 2004.
I practiced getting things ready the previous
evening so that setting up just before dawn and having the scope be aligned was a snap. You can see the attached
digital still/video camera.

There was no one alive today who had previously witnessed the transit of Venus.
The last time was in 1884 with the next not until 2012.
