Al and Denise got a chance to vacation as a couple this past summer.  They even got some tandem touring in.  Here they are at Point Betsie Lighthouse near Frankfort, Michigan.

In 2006, Derik and Al did some riding in Moab, Utah. Here is Derik on the Slickrock.  It was like riding on petrified sand dunes.  The traction was phenomenal.

Comet Holmes appeared again in 2007.  It became visible to the naked eye when it unexpectedly flared up in October.  It was still very much visible in this picture taken weeks later.

Everything set up and ready to go at dawn on
June 8, 2004.

I practiced getting things ready the previous evening so that setting up just before dawn and having the scope be aligned was a snap.  You can see the attached digital still/video camera.

There was no one alive today who had previously witnessed the transit of Venus.  The last time was in 1884 with the next not until 2012.
