FOURTH GENERATION

12. Luther SAWTELLE(photo) was born on 22 May 1833 in Broome Co., NY.  He died on 26 Feb 1892 in Shiawassee Co., MI. Shows in 1850 Michigan census as 17 living with parents in Shiawasse county Venice township. In 1860 Michigan census as 37 (27?) married with 2 children (Frank and Eva) same area. In 1890 veterans census in Corunna Supv. Dist.3 Enum. Dist. 93 Page 7 Sgt Company N 23 Mich. Inf. R enlisted 9 Aug 1862 to 26 Jul 1865 (3yr 11mos 17dys ??). Family history says he enlisted in Flint. In 1850 and 1860 census he was shown as a farmer. He was married to Julia Ann LINGO about 1856.

13. Julia Ann LINGO(photo) was born on 29 Sep 1837 in OH. She died on 28 Jun 1916 in Arenac Co., MI. Death certificate says born in West Virgnia and parents from Ohio. 1850 census says born in Ohio. According to Jessie Sawtelle she was a school teacher and taught Frank at home until he was 12 when he entered high school.

child iii. Eva SAWTELLE was born in 1858.
child iv. Mae SAWTELLE was born on 3 Feb 1861.  May have married James Dumond from MI on 21 Sep 1878 see Shiawasse Record #3944. If so she on 19 Nov 1893 in Shiawassee Co., MI at 32-9-16.
child v. Minnie SAWTELLE(photo) was born about 1869 in Shiawassee Co., MI. May have married William H. Gage from PA on 19 Sep 1884. Shiawasse Record #3117. However there is a family picture referring to her as Aunt Minnie Hughes and living in Los Angeles after 1909.
