14. Richard P. CAMERON
was born on 20 Feb 1819 in Canada. He died on 6 May 1896 in Sterling, Arenac
Co., MI. Richard Cameron, who was the head of the household for the Cameron
family after moving from Canada to Michigan, participated in the formation
of Adams Township (for Arenac County). An article by Cal Ennes entitled,
"Litigation And Poverty Delayed Formation", states that on February 19,
1896, after a delay of nearly two years, a petition was signed by several
people, including Emmanuel Klenk, Gottlieb Klenk, and Richard Cameron.
The struggle to form Adams township was significant because Bay County
resisted the loss of its territory to Arenac County all of the way to the
Michigan Supreme Court.
